If I recall correctly, Iago is a wild-type corn snake (Elaphe guttata). Corn snakes are docile, non-venemous rat catchers native to North America, and therefore the species most commonly kept as pets.

Nope. It's a constrictor, but the head's only about the size of a 10 pence piece (a US quarter) so he might just about manage to constrict your little finger, if you kept still enough for several hours!
Wow, very nice work Joe. The clarity, lighting and DOF is very good here. Looks like a young snake but how close did you get to him? It doesn't look like there's any glass barrier between you two :)

He's about two years, IIRC. This is at closest possible focusing distance with this lens, about 30cm.
