I am currently working on a simpler way of adding comments to this page (and a far less time consuming one for those without a Yahoo login), but for now, use flickr.
indeed, it's a few metres low. the reservoirs water sheffield, south yorks, and derby, so will get low in the summer. when full the water actually reaches the very top of the dams -- the spillway is simply the face of the dam. i've not seen it myself, but there are some spectacular photos on flickr...

Lovely view :) Do you know whether this is a normal level? The banks are visible, so it gives the impression that it is slightly low.
