Bristol and Bath Railway Path, formerly a branch of the Midlands Railway. Closed in the 60s as the Great Western Railway also ran between the two cities. Now a nice long flat cycleway (part of National Cycle Network Route 4) with few obstacles.
An observation several years later: I took this when I first got into photography, in spring 2004, and it remains popular, as well as one of my favourites, despite the technical flaws, both of the camera and of the operator. It's not down to anything on my part, but has everything to do with the light and subject, which were handed to me. If I were the sort to endulge in pseuds, I'd insert some nonsense here about the contrasts between the new spring growth, and the lengthening evening shadows, the old path and the new path, the brief interval of darkness, and the "cycle" way.
Well, at least I'm not so into pseuds that I write them out long-hand.
Gosh, now I want to rename this "Cycleway".
