Bit of a cliche shot, really. And yet I still managed to balls it up a little. I do try to compose these things properly, but I have a habit of paying loads of attention to getting one set of features arranged perfectly, while completely missing more obvious needs -- like the fact that the bridge pier isn't lined up with the cathedral. And I always notice what went wrong instantly when I bring it up on the computer, by which time it's too late to fix. I should have just fired off a hundred or so shots from slightly different positions :/

From Topcliff, back in September. The big buildings at the bottom, which resemble a scene from Beirut or Grozny, are the former navy barracks, slowly falling derelict since the 1980s, after the closure of the naval base. Now being turned into luxuary appartments in time for the 2012 olympics, which have already transformed the island's economy.

The view from the monument to William Tyndale above North Nibley on the scarp of the Cotswolds Hills in Gloucestershire. The 111 ft (34 m) tower of 1866 has views out over the estuary of the River Severn between Bristol and Gloucester, over to the Forest of Dean and Monmouthshire, as well as inland over the Cotswolds.Tyndale was a 16th century protestant reformer who was born nearby. Tyndale translated the bible into English, for which he was imprisoned at Vilvoorde, near Brussels, in 1536, tried for heresy, and burnt at the stake.
